The Diploma in English at Brilliant Educational Institute (BEI) is an intensive 9-month language program designed to develop learners’ practical, academic, and professional English skills. The program provides structured progression from CEFR A2 to C1, preparing students for higher education, international opportunities, and the modern workplace.
The program is delivered through hybrid learning using Moodle and Zoom, combining guided independent study, collaborative learning, and skills-based training.

Length: 9 Months (3 semesters)
Total Credits: 24 credits (8 credits per semester)
Delivery Mode: Hybrid —( Live Zoom Classes + Moodle LMS )

Program Goal
To equip learners with strong practical and academic English competencies needed for university study, professional development, and effective communication in global contexts.
Credit Hour Calculation
Each 2-credit course includes approximately 90 total learning hours, consisting of:
i. Zoom Live Classes: 30 hours
(10 weeks × 2 sessions × 1.5 hours)
ii. Moodle Activities: 20 hours
iii. Assignments/Projects: 20 hours
iv. Independent Study: 20 hours
1 credit = 45 learning hours.
Admission Requirements for the Diploma in English Program
Applicants are eligible to apply for the Diploma in English program if they meet one or more of the following criteria:
a) Applicants who have successfully passed the BECA Examination.
b) Applicants who passed the Matriculation Examination before 2021 but were unable to continue their university studies.
c) Applicants who studied in the first or second year at university in or before 2021 and have since discontinued their studies.
d) Applicants who have successfully completed Grade 12 (or Upper Secondary Level) from Federal schools or schools in ethnic regions.
e) Applicants who hold an internationally recognized high school qualification, such as GED, IGCSE/O-Level, A-Level, or other equivalent diplomas.
Note: Applicants under category (d) must submit a recommendation letter from their respective Federal or affiliated schools. Applicants under categories (b) and (c) may also apply by taking the BEI Admission Examination. All applicants, regardless of their qualification category, must successfully complete the BEI English Test as part of the admission process, unless they present a valid result from an officially recognized English proficiency examination, such as TOEFL or IELTS, indicating a minimum proficiency of A2 CEFR level.
Program Structure
Semester 1 — Basic to Lower-Intermediate
ENG101 – Fundamentals of English Grammar (2 credits)
Covers essential grammar such as parts of speech, simple tenses, sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and article usage. Activities include sentence correction, grammar games, and basic writing.
ENG102 – Listening & Speaking I (2 credits)
Focuses on everyday communication and pronunciation practice. Students engage in
dialogues, role-plays, and short presentations using real-life topics.
ENG103 – Reading and Vocabulary I (2 credits)
Teaches reading techniques such as skimming and scanning. Vocabulary is taught
thematically, focusing on context clues and dictionary skills.
ENG104 – Basic Writing Skills (2 credits)
Introduces sentence writing, punctuation, and paragraph structure. Students learn to
write short descriptive and narrative paragraphs with proper organization
Semester 2 — Intermediate
ENG201 – Intermediate Grammar and Usage (2 credits)
Explores verb tenses, modals, passive voice, conditionals, and question formation.
Grammar is reinforced through writing and communication exercises.
ENG202 – Listening & Speaking II (2 credits)
Improves fluency through storytelling, giving opinions, and responding in real-time.
Includes pronunciation improvement and short impromptu speaking tasks.
ENG203 – Reading and Vocabulary II (2 credits)
Builds comprehension and analysis skills through reading articles, short stories, and
opinion pieces. Vocabulary development is integrated with each reading.
ENG204 – Paragraph and Essay Writing (2 credits)
Guides students through writing process steps: brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising. Students practice writing opinion, narrative, process, comparative and descriptive essays.
Semester 3 — Upper-Intermediate to Advanced
ENG301 – Advanced Grammar in Use (2 credits)
Focuses on noun and adjective clauses, discourse markers, and reported speech, compound and complex sentence structures. Practice includes speaking and writing in an academic context.
ENG302 – Public Speaking and Presentation (2 credits)
Trains students to plan and deliver speeches and presentations. Emphasizes tone, eye contact, slide usage, and persuasive techniques.
ENG303 – Academic Reading (2 credits)
Students analyze academic texts for thesis, evidence, and tone. Teaches how to summarize, paraphrase, and use simple citation formats (APA). (how to cite sources)
ENG304 – Academic Writing and Final Paper (2 credits)
Final writing course emphasizing argument essays, summaries, reports, literature review, and case studies
