Brilliant University is a non-profit University dedicated to providing accessible, affordable education to Myanmar students — especially those who have lost access to formal schooling.

Our Story

2023 — Our Beginning

When Myanmar's political crisis unfolded in September 2023, civil society educators and genuine education workers faced a real danger — an entire generation losing access to learning. Rather than wait for stability, we started immediately, using whatever tools were available: online platforms, Zoom, and Telegram networks. On September 9, 2023, we launched as Brilliant Tomorrow Learning Center, offering affordable English proficiency courses. We supported teachers involved in the CDM movement, displaced youth, and students from the federal education system in returning to quality learning pathways.

2024 — Expanding Programs & Strategic Partnerships

In our first year, we supported over 1,000 learners — from Elementary-level English to Academic Writing Prep for university admission. 27 students went on to receive international scholarships directly, proving the quality of our curriculum. We expanded into structured degree pathways, ICT, and Research Methodology training, and established a Language Testing Centre recognized for British Council EnglishScore and CEFR alignment assessments.

2025 — Formal Institutional Structure

On March 6, 2025, we formally reorganized as Brilliant Educational Institute (BEI), with a proper Institutional Governance Framework and accredited curriculum systems. We began offering Associate Degree and Bachelor of Arts (English) pathways, signed partnership agreements with the Yangon University Interim Council (UYUIC), Mandalay University Interim Council (UMIC), and Universitas Bina Bangsa Getsempena (BBG) in Indonesia, and applied for institutional recognition from the NUG Ministry of Education (NUG-MOE). Within two years, BEI served over 1,500 students across 17+ partner organizations.

2026 — University Status

On June 26, 2026, BEI was elevated to Brilliant University. This wasn't a simple rebrand — it followed rigorous quality assessment by a newly formed University Council and Academic Senate. On June 30, 2026, the first University Council meeting was held, formally appointing 21 governing members across the Board of Trustees, University Council, and Academic Senate, along with a Chancellor and Vice-Chancellors. Today, Brilliant University operates four Academic Schools and a Centre for Research & Innovation, supported by the BEI Student Portal for admissions, conduct, and data policy management.

Education is not a privilege — it is a right, and we believe political crisis, displacement, or poverty should never stand in the way of that right.
Myanmar's future will be built by educated people — teachers, engineers, doctors, researchers, and leaders — and we exist to help build them.
Building a university during a crisis is not naive optimism. It is a firm conviction that education cannot wait.
